Achievements

Dear fellow Ugandans,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the trust you vested in me to serve the Ugandan community in North America, USA in particular by electing me as a Committee member of the UNAA Executive Committee and at the same time as the  President for UNAA Atlanta Chapter. Together with my business commitments, it has not been an easy task. It has been a real challenge but my input together with that of my fellow Board Members has seen us through so many trial and tribulations.

This type of commitment has at least greatly paid off in respect to the Ugandans in the Diaspora. This has been portrayed by the various Ugandan groups which have been formed to foster the communication and interaction among Ugandans. I wish to thank all my fellow Ugandans who have maintained a constant flow of emails, information on the UNAA net, Gwanga Mujje, Uga Net to mention but a few. This really has made us feel home away from home and to become fully attached and kept abreast with the issues going on at home.

I have to admit that we have had some shortcomings brought about especially by financial constraints, but we have persevered and endured to enhance the good name of UNAA and also strive for the betterment of the lives of Ugandans in USA plus struggling for development in our Country Uganda.

I have on various occasions wooed many investors, doctors and other VIPs from USA to go to our Country and look for Investment opportunities across the spectrum of our Country. This is a struggle, which is ablaze, and I feel that I can’t let this fire burn out. This is a dream, which we have started to witness on so many fronts. It is my patient appeal to all the patriots to do whatever possible for the economic development of our Country.

PROFILE

Background:

I was born in Rakai District, in 1973. Following elementary education at Kifamba Primary School and Ndejje Secondary School, I enrolled in Kabanyolo University, where I majored in Animal Husbandry. I moved to the United States in 1993 and enrolled in Howard University where I graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Business & Entrepreneurship:

I started Kifamba Travel Agency in 1994 and operated it until 1999. In 1999, I moved to Macon, Georgia where I started to work as a salesman in a local security alarm company. In 2000, I started my own security alarm dealership, Triple Kings Security Inc., which I sold in 2001. That year I opened JK Procurement and Cleaning Services Inc. This company is involved in construction, real estate investment, contract dealings and supply of materials and labor for small and medium sized jobs in the south-eastern United States. In 2002, I opened Flexible Security Inc., a security alarm dealership, installation and monitoring service affiliated with Monitronics Inc. This company sells, installs and arranges for the round-the-clock monitoring of security alarm systems for homes and businesses. In 2003, I opened an investment company called TFK and Associates, based in Warner Robins, Georgia. This company invested in gas stations and convenience stores. I sold that business in 2004. I have been and I am the President/CEO of all the businesses I have owned and operated.
I am the co-owner of Stanflex Inc., a Macon-based food service company which owns Ron’s Kountry Kitchen on Gray Highway in Macon, Georgia. I am also involved in the purchase, renovation and resale of single family homes in the Middle Georgia area. I have a mentorship program for individuals and businesses who want to pursue real estate investment on a part-time or full-time basis. Several Ugandan individuals and Ugandan-owned companies have benefited from this service.
In 2005, Kifamba Zukuka Program, a Ugandan-based NGO, under the Patronage of Brig. Elly Kayanja appointed me as their Overseas Patron. This NGO was formed by the native sons and daughters of Rakai District in Uganda, to uplift the living standards and improve the welfare of the citizens of the district. As you know, Rakai is the district where the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Uganda started in the 1980’s. The district’s population was decimated by the disease leaving behind numerous orphaned children in households headed by grandparents or by the children themselves. More details are available at www.kifamba.org

In 2006, I started Flexible Nursing Care Inc., a Georgia Home Health Agency. I employ Ugandans and other healthcare workers who provide in-home nursing care, as the client may desire. I have organized annual trade delegations since 2005.

In July 2006 I had the honor and pleasure to take the Mayor of the City of Macon, Mr. Jack Ellis to Uganda to explore ways of forging a relationship between the people of Uganda and the people of the United States; Macon in particular. At the same time I also managed to organize a team of Medical Doctors from the Presbyterian Church in USA, who went to Uganda and treated our people for free.
As a result, many mayors from Uganda have visited USA and formed relationships with different cities in the USA, courtesy of my efforts which I started with Mayor Jack Ellis. This cooperation between the Mayors of Uganda and those of USA has greatly been fostered by the Umbrella organization of the Black Mayors in USA, National Conference of Black Mayors. The Organization approached me and I organized a trip in December for the Mayors to Uganda plus some other businessmen so that they could venture in the investment spectrum of Uganda. I am glad to inform you that this cooperation is starting to bear a lot of fruits for our Country because right now our Country is prime on the USA Mayors’ priority list of trade and cooperation.

In June 2007, I organized and participated in the first Annual Uganda Medical Mission, which took 20 healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, surgeons, pharmacists etc) to the Districts of Kalangala, Rakai, Masaka and Mbarara for a three-week charitable mission. This is together with all the humanitarian work I am doing for many Ugandans in USA and some in Uganda on individual basis so that we can all try to have better life.

In 2007 I  inititated and coordinated an exchange program  between Nabbunga Fountain of Education Primary School in Rakai district and US schools. This move is aimed at solilciting support for Ugandan schools.  I sponsored a  group of seven (7) elementary school children [four (4) boys & three (3) girls] from Nabbunga Primary School in Rakai Districtv who had been invited to  Macon, Georgia for  a month-long student exchange program with Heritage Elementary School.
Led by their head teacher Stephen Ssemutono, six pupils recently flew to Atlanta and Georgia in the US, where they met and studied with pupils of Heritage Elementary School in Georgia.
As a return of favor on May 28 this year(2009), i led a team of teachers and principals from schools in the US to visit Nabbunga and other primary schools in Uganda..

In July 2008 organised, coordinated a team from  THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BLACK MAYORS IN USA, BUSINESS ENTERPRENEURS AND MEDICAL DOCTORS TO UGANDA IN JULY 2008. This big delegation had a variety of objectives ranging from investment to philanthropic work and truly all of the objectives were fulfilled. The medical team treated people for free in the districts of Kalangala, Rakai , Kiruhura, Masaka and Sembabule. The delegation also had the opprtunity to meet His Excellency, President Yoweri Museveni in Rwakitura. The Executive Director of the National Conference of Black Mayors,  Ms Vanessa Williams, leader of the delegation, promised the President to lobby for investment in Uganda, especially in education, health, housing and manufacturing as well as offering technical support to the country. She said that her organization also has keen interest in environmental protection and supports faith based organizations.

I have been lobbying  all the black mayors in the USA  who have agreed to support  a housing projects in Uganda through which Ugandans can have decent housing. This will be a very good solution to the housing problem in Uganda. They are committed to partner with the Ministry of Urban Development and Akright Housing Estate to provide decent housing. Whereas Ugandans in the US are required to provide funds, the Ministry of Urban Development is expected to facilitate the process while Akright will avail land. ‘We are using the impending Uganda North-America Association (UNAA) to preach this gospel. The project will begin with over 1000 housing units.
Through my initiative i managed to link our people in Uganda to the Georgia Optimist International,  a service club organization that aims to “bring out the best in kids” by conducting positive service projects that reach more than six million young people each year. As a result the people of Bukomansimbi  County and Akright Projects were inducted to  Zone 11 of the Georgia Distrtict Optimists by Lt. Gov Dontia White. As a result the Bukomansimbi County Member of Parliament, Hon. Alhaj Iddi Kisiki Lubyayi and The Lt. Governor, Mr. Dontia White have already exchanged visit and the fruits are slowly being realised.
